Calvin is James' family friend since childhood. Over the years, I've gotten to know him through us all hanging out at his favorite restaurant Din Tai Fung whenever he came to visit from Florida. The last time he came out, we had the pleasure of meeting his girlfriend Ylse (at Din Tai Fung of course). She was incredibly sweet, and I was excited to get to know her.
When Calvin asked me to shoot their wedding, I was beyond excited! We began planning their engagement session, and they were amazing. They looked like they had stepped out of the Pinterest board and styling guide that I had sent them. With a Lulu's maxi floral dress, a bouquet, and flower crown from Aquafuzion, I was in photography heaven. My favorite part of the shoot was getting to know more of their story!
Ylse and Calvin had met during freshman year at UCSB. Though Calvin had to move back to Miami, they had kept in touch over the years. Eventually, Calvin had asked Ylse to be his girlfriend and the rest is history. On the night Calvin was going to propose, he brought Ylse to a restaurant called Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita. This was the perfect location because Ylse's middle name is Dolores and favorite movie is Lolita, named after the main character Dolores' nickname. He recited some lines from the film, got down on one knee, and proposed.
Thanks so much Calvin and Ylse for asking me to be your wedding photographer! This wedding has so much meaning to me, and I'm excited to capture your big day :)
Isn't this dress gorgeous? This was my first time shooting at the Colorado Bridge in Pasadena, and it was the perfect backdrop for the shoot.
Loving this golden light!
Her ring was so beautiful :)
Ylse, you are gorgeous!
They were happy to receive my wedding welcome pack :)
Loved the Aquafuzion bouquet.
